A HOLISTIC APPROACH TO YOUR SPINE PROBLEMS

At the clinic’s Back School & Spine Care Department, our caring physical therapists and osteopaths specialize in treating any neck, back, and spine orthopedic conditions to help ease pain and improve functional mobility while addressing the underlying causative factors rather than working on the symptoms alone.

Each patient evaluation starts with a thorough exam to determine the cause of pain and biomechanical imbalances. Next, we formulate a customized rehabilitation program with our medical team which focuses on your goals and lifestyles. Finally, we integrate ergonomic and lifestyle changes and prepare a more sustainable exercise based therapy program with the help our physical therapists, clinical pilates and rehab yoga specialists.

Our evidence based treatment approach and state of the art facilities work with the natural functions of your body to relieve spine problems and promote healing.

Back Care | Spinal Rehabilitation

Back Care and Spinal Rehabilitation are terms which refer to the identification and correction of problems of the spine (neck, upper back, lower back, pelvis) and surrounding soft tissue (muscles, ligaments, tendons, fascia) to restore spinal health and optimal function in all aspects of daily and sports life.

Our Back School and Spinal Rehabilitation Programs encompass a multidisciplinary approach with physical therapists, osteopaths, clinical pilates instructors, Rehab Yoga teachers… to help people regain daily and sports activities function by managing pain in acute or chronic spine conditions such as scoliosis, disc related conditions, ligament sprain and muscle strains, postural syndromes, post-surgical conditions, pregnancy related back pain…

Osteopathy | Advanced Manual Therapy

Osteopathy is a type of medicine that emphasizes manual readjustments, myofascial release and other physical manipulation of soft tissue and joints.

OMT (Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy) is based on the idea that a myofascial continuity links every part of the body with every other part; a practitioner, through a skillful and dexterous use of the hands treats what we they call “somatic dysfunction” which can be the source of many pains and dysfunctions.

The most commonly treated ailments are neck and back pain (acute and chronic), headaches, TMJ (Temporo-Mandibular Joint) dysfunctions, myofascial syndromes, neonatal torticollis and colics, pregnancy related pain and conditions, digestive problems…

Scoliosis Screening & Management

The purpose of Scoliosis Screening is to identify students with spinal deformities that may cause impairment of the body’s range of motion and endurance, and in advanced stages, back pain and functions of other parts of the body.

With early identification and intervention, scoliosis may be prevented from progressing so that it does not interfere with mobility, activity or comfort. Scoliosis management include observation, bracing, and exercise or surgical spinal fusion.

Getting to understand that the management of scoliosis is a multidisciplinary task and that it requires an specialized team is key in maximizing the results of the therapy. The integrative and multidisciplinary approach of the clinic ensures the best possible outcomes while working together with your spine or pediatric physician.

Clinical Pilates | Rehab Yoga

Clinical pilates is a form of physical exercise that focuses in posture, core stability, balance, control, strength, flexibility, and breathing. Clinical Pilates is often used in conjunction with physiotherapy as a means of treating a variety of injuries, particularly those of the spine (neck, upper back, lower back). Our Pilates instructors are experienced, clinically trained and work together with the medical team to make sure your programs are focused and directed to the root of the imbalances.

Rehab Yoga is a type of therapeutic yoga developed at the clinic that uses yoga postures (asanas), breathing exercises (pranayama), meditation (dhyana), and guided imagery to improve mental and physical health. The holistic focus of Rehab Yoga encourages the integration of mind, body, and spirit while maintaining clinical guidelines for injury recovery with the integrative work of our yoga teachers and physical therapists.

Postural Assessments & Ergonomic Evaluations

Work related injuries are usually due to improper posture, forceful or uncoordinated movements, and external factors such as noise, light, temperature… which can affect health and work output.

Ergonomic Evaluations evaluate different kinds of stresses on the muscles, tendons and bones so that the risk of injury is reduced at the work stations; the evaluation also includes solutions and modifications on how a job, sport or activity can be performed or modified to reduce stress and pain thus increasing productivity, performance while addressing unsustainable postural or movement habits.
